THE DAY CRUISE FOR SMALL DOGS MAKES BIG WAVES!
A few hundred social diminutive dogs and their owners will cruise around Manhattan island on a sold-out chartered yacht to socialize, indulge and give back! The Cruise for diminutive dogs will set sail from Pier 83 at 42nd street and 12th avenue on
September 14, 2008 from 12:00 – 3:00p.m.
A unique event for small dogs and fund-raiser for animal charity, The New York City Canine Cruise has donated close to $8,000 in just 2 short years since its inception. Canine Cruise founder and executive producer Rece Reid explains: “Our goal is to take a day to show our beloved pets appreciation for the love and unwavering loyalty they give to us 365 days of the year. In the spirit of giving back, we also extend our efforts to less fortunate animals and worthy animal causes by donating our proceeds to charity.” This year, Canine Cruise proceeds will go to therapy dog program Angel On A Leash.
On-board festivities could rival any itinerary on the most popular vacation cruises! Dogs and their owners will sail around Manhattan while enjoying commemorative photos, caricature art renderings, medal-winning competitions, and gourmet dog treats by New York favorite Ada Nieves For Dogs! Gift bags include donations by major pet brands including Nutro, Wellness, Dogswell, Vet’s Choice, Trixie + Peanut, Modern Dog Magazine, and Pet ‘n Shape. Pet professionals also will be on board for the benefit of the canine cruisers. Dog trainer and Author Babette Haggerty, pet psychic Catherine Ferguson PhD, and dog masseuse Lisa Veyka will be on board providing services in their areas of expertise.
This year will be the first ever competition for the title of Mr. & Ms. Canine Cruise. The grand prize package includes a glamorous photo shoot with an industry favorite fashion photographer, Jo Lance of Jo Lance Photography. The photo shoot will include a groomer and stylist on set to dress and fluff the winning pooches. The sensational prize package also includes a featured article in an upcoming issue of New York Tails magazine.
