Nappy Roots prepare tour w/ Obama Campaign
After selling more than two million albums on their first two major-label releases, (Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz and Wooden Leather), Nappy Roots are back with their independent debut album, The Humdinger, in stores August 5 on NREG/Fontana Distribution. Always in tune with history making events and the political landscape, the Nappy ones are currently planning a tour of opening performances at the Black Americans Committee Seminars with Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
The Humdinger successfully showcases each member’s unique personality on tracks like “Kalifornia Dreamin’” and “Swerve & Lean”, both produced by platinum producer Sol Messiah (Jay-Z, Dead Prez, David Banner) and also boasts a new summer anthem “Good Day” which features a group of children singing the feel good chorus. “Good Day” is also the lead single on DJ Greg Street’s debut album coming out on Interscope Records later this year.
Nappy Roots (Skinny Deville, Fish Scales, Ron Clutch, B. Stille and Big V) have come a long way since their humble beginnings in the mid 90’s as college students at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Their politically conscious rap style has solidified them as one of the South’s most successful and respected rap groups of all time.
