This Saturday May 24th, 2008, BAM Café Live series presents The Earthman Experience in celebration of BAM’s Annual Dance Africa Festival. Showtime is at 9:30pm and it’s FREE to the public.
The stellar combination of phenomenal vocalist Richard “Earthman” Laurent and the outstanding turntablism of DJ Hard Hittin Harry is proof that when you combine live musicians and a DJ…it’s bound to be a winning formula. The Earthman Experience have been making a lot of noise lately and get ready for the summer kick-off this Memorial Day Weekend to support Earthman’s latest release, “The Beginning”currently available on I-Tunes and CDBaby.com.
In 2007, Haitian born Richard “Earthman” Laurent joined forces with fellow Haitian DJ Hard Hittin Harry (born Harry D’Janite in Port au Prince, Haiti). Harry became Earthman’s DJ and Musical Director and together they mastermind the collective which consists of Earthman on lead vocals, congas, guitar, and keyboards, DJ Hard Hittin Harry on turntables, Shayshahn “Phearnone” MacPhearson on violin/percussion, with Shaun Kelly and Senfu on djembe/percussion. This weekend's performance will feature special guests Lenny Johnson on bass, Shawn Banks on percussion, Rakiem Walker on saxophone, and Michael C. Lewis on trumpet.
The Earthman Experience has graced the stages of SOB’s, Spotlight Live, Shrine World Music Venue, Sputnik, Solomon’s Porch, and Leopard Lounge. The band has recently been featured on FOX 5 Good Day New York, Daily News, and Caribbean Life newspaper.
