GNARLS BARKLEY NOMINATED FOR BET AWARD
Gnarls Barkley, the chart-topping, Grammy-winning, genre-busting combination of artist/producer Danger Mouse and vocalist Cee-Lo Green, has been nominated for “Best Group” in BET’s 2008 Music Awards, according to gnarlsbarkley.com, the official Gnarls website. This puts them in the company of fellow nominees Danity Kane, Day26, Playaz Circle and UGK.
“Gnarls is guided by the heart, the mind and everything in between,” said a spokesperson for the band, “and not by external factors. Nevertheless, Gnarls is always flattered by compliments, and this is a huge compliment. We are particularly honored to be in the circle with the late Chad ‘Pimp C’ Butler [of UGK], whose courage and honesty deeply inspired us.”
Gnarls Barkley’s latest album, The Odd Couple, charted #1 on iTunes during its first week of release. It has been called has been called “impeccably produced and impressively layered, an esoteric love letter to both of-the-moment studio trickery and bone-deep vintage soul” (Entertainment Weekly) and “like life itself – a unique and beautiful mystery” (LA Times). Paste says, “the duo’s avant garde pop sensibility challenges other musicians to unlock their own creativity and make truly unique music.”
