KARMA PRODUCTIONS GOING TO THE GRAMMYS!
— The tremendous success in 2007 of the prolific Philadelphia songwriting and production company KARMA PRODUCTIONS was recently recognized with three Grammy Awards nominations for their work with Musiq Soulchild. The multi-talented production duo, led by Ivan Barias & Carvin Haggins, will attend the 50th Annual Grammy Awards on February 10th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with high hopes of taking home their first Grammy.
KARMA PRODUCTIONS, whose impressive list of credits includes songs for Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Jill Scott, Jaheim, Anthony Hamilton, Mario, Faith Evans, and Brian McKnight (see link to discography below,) are nominated for Best R&B Song for Musiq Soulchild’s “Teach Me,” and co-wrote and produced his hit “B.U.D.D.Y.” which is up for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. They also served as executive producers of Musiq Soulchild’s certified gold CD Luvanmusiq, which is nominated for Best R&B Album.
KARMA PRODUCTIONS, which has become one of the most sought after writing/production teams in urban music, is also responsible for the brand new Raheem Devaughn single “Customer” from his latest CD Love Behind The Melody.
Barias & Haggins’ exceptional career began with the formation of KARMA PRODUCTIONS in 2001 as they launched the careers of fellow Philly natives Jill Scott and Musiq Soulchild with their respective platinum debut albums Who Is Jill Scott? and Aijuswanaseing (I Just Wanna Sing). Now seven years later, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences has acknowledged their superior ability as Haggins’ passionate lyrics combine with the magical music production of Barias for a classic songbook. These Grammy nominees look forward to 2008 being the year of “Karma” with new music produced for Jaheim and currently recording with Usher and Ashanti, as well as several promising new artists including Mary J. Blige protégé Dave Young, who is signed to Mary’s Matriarch Records label.
