LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS
The winter season brings in an essence of curling around the fire, staying home and getting warm and toasty, yet our adventure seekers like to brave the season’s weather and getting the most out of what winter brings. For the winter issue of Black Outdoorsman Magazine, readers will be graced with words from our scribes not only coast-to-coast, but also around the globe.
Skiing anyone?
BOM’s feature articles this issue are from contributing writers Mike Russell and Kacy Wilson who chronicle their passion for skiing and snowboarding in the coldest weather conditions. Russell, an avid backcountry skier from Detroit, Michigan, hits the slopes at Powder Quest in Patagonia, Argentina. Wilson, a Los Angeles based snowboarding instructor, explains why one should never give up on “black-diamonds”, as he boards Mammoth Mountain in the Eastern Sierras. These two are true outdoor enthusiasts who brave extreme cold weather conditions to enjoy their passion.
Additional Adventures -
Contributor, Kevin Cartwright, Chief Public Information Officer for the Baltimore City Fire Department, goes on a winter deer hunt on Catoctin Mountain in Frederick County, Maryland with his buddies Allen Brown and Solomon Henson. Lastly, in BOM’s Outdoor Profile section editor Marcus Asante interviews Captain Bill Pinkney, the first Black man to sail solo around the world via Cape Horn.
