Actress/Singer/Comedian to Perform at The Triad Theater in New York City on February 1st for One Night Only Performance

 

 

New York, NY - January 22, 2008 -- Actress, singer and comedian Marishka Phillips makes her debut performance in "The Goddess Speaks:  A Night of Revelations."  The one night only performance will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at The Triad Theater located at 158 West 72^nd Street (between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues) in New York City. "I'm so excited to share my journey with everyone because these life-changing events that I have endured will not be in vain...so fasten your seatbelts darling, it's going to be bumpy ride," comments Phillips on her upcoming solo debut performance.

"The Goddess Speaks" will take the audience on an autobiographical journey of certain events that have made Phillips who she is today.  The cabaret show incorporates singing, dancing, comedy, as well as drama.  Joining her on stage will be dancers/singers Robert Fowler and Michael Roberts. Produced by her mother, acclaimed Broadway, film and recording artist Sandra Reaves-Phillips of Great Lady Productions and Marishka of M-Swirl Productions, additional show credits include choreographer/director Lloyd Culbreath, musical director/keyboards Teddie "fx" Rollins, drummer Camille Gainer-Jones, and bassist Dave Jones.

Although this is Phillips' solo theatrical debut, she is no novice to the entertainment industry.  The multi-talented artist has appeared in Broadway's "Uptown is Hot" directed and choreographed by the legendary Maurice Hines.  Phillips was a lead in the national touring company of "Fame: The Musical."  Her television credits include the hit television sitcoms, "A Different World" and "The Cosby Show."  Phillips has spent several years touring throughout Europe appearing in musicals such as "The Blues Brothers," "Raisin" and "Ludwig:  The Musical."  She has also performed as a background vocalist with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, CeCe Wnans and Mexican pop star, Christian Castro.
